Oh Christchurch

Having lived in Christchurch its the Cathedral spire, at the very heart of the city, which leads the way through the flat streets.  Its a marker, a reference point, a guide to the city.  To see it now, is heart breaking.
Oh Christchurch.

Such a beautiful, graceful, pretty city ravaged now, rubble and ruins.

Smoke rising from the rubble, desperate, pain staking searches through the ruins for those still alive, and those sadly, not.

For the long dreadful night last night, and the families and friends who wait for news of those who have not come home  - God Bless.

For my Breeze listeners in Christchurch and my friends and colleagues too,  my love and thoughts are with you on this long and painful journey.

If, like me, you wish you could help,  then do -
this is what you can do today

* To make a donation to the Canterbury Earthquake Appeal, go towww.redcross.org.nz or call 0900-33-200 to make an automatic $20 donation.  or 0800 RED CROSS

*  Anyone wanting to donate to the The Salvation Army appeal could call0800 53 00 00 or do it online at www.salvationarmy.org.nz or to Westpac account 03 0207 0617331 00.

And a hope and a prayer of course.

  1. I have lived there too Nicki. You are right - the city without the spire will never be the same. God bless those poor trapped souls
